Pollster John Zogby: "Is McCain making a move? The three-day average holds steady, but McCain outpolled Obama today, 48% to 47%. He is beginning to cut into Obama's lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all.
"Obama's lead among women declined, and it looks like it is occurring because McCain is solidifying the support of conservative women, which is something we saw last time McCain picked up in the polls. If McCain has a good day tomorrow, we will eliminate Obama's good day three days ago, and we could really see some tightening in this rolling average. But for now, hold on."

media tycoon Rupert Murdoch has warned that a win by Democratic
hopeful Barack Obama in next week's US election could worsen the world
financial crisis, a report said Saturday.
...The Australian-born mogul, who controls media interests around the world, also criticised Obama's proposed tax policies which include granting rebates to most US workers.
"Forty percent (of the US population) don't pay taxes, so how can he give them a tax cut?" he said.
"But you can give them a welfare cheque which he has promised -- a grant of 500 dollars -- which will disappear very fast. It's not going to turn the economy around at all."

McCain to appear on Saturday Night Live

with Barack Obama, the GOP presidential hopeful will
duck from the campaign trail to appear on NBC's live
broadcast, according to the Associated Press.
McCain last appeared on SNL in May, after he became the Republican nominee. During that appearance, the candidate, 72, joked about his age, saying: "I ask you, what should we be looking for in our next president? Certainly, someone who is very, very, very old."
... McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, appeared on SNL two weeks ago with her satirical doppelganger, Tina Fey. That show won SNL its highest ratings in 14 years.

Hillary camp assails Obama anti-Palin ad
Hillary Clinton supporters and Women for McCain leadership are slamming Barack Obama’s new ad, titled “His Choice,” as sexist and demeaning to women for its depiction of running mate Sarah Palin.
The ad features a McCain quote about relying on his vice president for economic advice — and then shows an unrelated clip of Palin winking mischievously at the camera.
The implication: She’s less than a person to be taken seriously.
“It’s a sexist example of reducing a woman to an object — a wink — and denying her a voice. Her lips are actually moving, but she’s not allowed to be heard,” says Stephanie Bressler, a Hillary Clinton supporter and women and politics professor at the University of Scranton.
Giuliani rallies for McCain in Ohio
"John McCain is going to fight for you — he's going to fight to see that your taxes are low and that the economy recovers," Giuliani said, claiming Democratic candidate Barack Obama's policies would be "disastrous."
"They want to raise taxes and increase spending. That would be a disaster in this economy," said Giuliani, whose own bid for the Republican nomination ended in early defeat before he pledged his support to McCain.
McCain-Palin launch election hotline
The McCain-Palin campaign today launched the Honest and Open Election hotline to help citizens learn the location of their polling place, as well as report any instances of irregularities at the polls — including voter fraud, intimidation, violence and electioneering.
The hotline can be accessed via phone at: 866-976-VOTE, according to information released by the campaign’s press office.

Obama's aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public
housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an
immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The
Associated Press has learned.
Zeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as "Aunti Zeituni" in Obama's memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango's case.
Obama 'raffles' chance to join him election night
In an e-mail to supporters, Obama says his campaign is saving some of the best seats for select donors at his election night rally in Grant Park Tuesday.
"Show your support at this crucial time with a donation of $25 or more and you could join me on election night," the message says. "If you're selected, you can bring a guest and we'll fly you in and put you up in a hotel. You'll go backstage at the big event. You'll have a front row seat to history."
Extravagance: Obama spent $700,000 on stage, lights in Berlin
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama paid a German company nearly $700,000 for staging, sound and lighting services at the time he delivered a speech this past summer in Berlin and declared himself a "citizen" of both the U.S. and the world.
... The German company, whose Web page says it specializes in theater and event management, is listed as a disbursement recipient on Mr. Obama's most recent campaign expenditures report, filed Thursday with the Federal Election Commission.
